Nurturing Handwriting Excellence in a Digital Age
This winter, RQA encouraged students to participate in a meaningful handwriting improvement activity with a beautiful purpose — writing selected Surahs from the Qur’an.
In today’s fast-paced digital world, where typing often replaces writing, the importance of handwriting is greater than ever. Handwriting strengthens memory, improves comprehension, enhances creativity, and builds a deeper connection with what is being written. Unlike typing, writing by hand activates multiple areas of the brain, helping students retain knowledge more effectively.
At RQA, we place special emphasis on the art of calligraphy. Students are taught proper letter formation, spacing, alignment, and presentation — not only as an academic skill, but as a discipline that cultivates patience, precision, and aesthetic appreciation. Writing Qur’anic Surahs allowed students to combine spiritual reflection with skill development, making the activity both enriching and purposeful.
This initiative also helped in:
- Developing fine motor skills
- Strengthening hand control and coordination
- Improving concentration and focus
- Building neatness and consistency
We were delighted to receive submissions from many students who showcased exceptionally beautiful handwriting. Their dedication, effort, and attention to detail were clearly visible in every line.
At RQA, we believe that even in a digital era, the timeless skill of handwriting remains a foundation of disciplined learning and refined character.
