The students of Grade 4 and Grade 5 at RQA recently participated in an exciting and intellectually stimulating Brain-a-Thon, demonstrating remarkable enthusiasm, confidence, and academic strength.

The participants were divided into four dynamic teams, with five students in each team. The atmosphere was charged with energy as the competition began, encouraging not only subject mastery but also collaboration and strategic thinking.

The challenge consisted of 100 thoughtfully curated questions:
  • 75 questions from Social Studies
  • 25 questions from Dirasat Islamia
The wide range of questions tested students on historical understanding, geography concepts, civic awareness, Islamic studies knowledge, and critical thinking skills. The students responded with impressive accuracy and confidence, often delivering prompt answers under time pressure.

What truly stood out was not just their subject knowledge, but their composure, teamwork, and ability to think quickly. Team members consulted efficiently, supported one another, and displayed healthy competitive spirit while maintaining respect and sportsmanship.

Lisan ud Dawat Fast Reading Competition – Celebrating Our Language & Identity

RQA recently hosted an exciting Lisan ud Dawat Fast Reading Competition, a vibrant event that beautifully combined language, confidence, and community spirit.

For an entire month, students practiced diligently in their classrooms, refining pronunciation, fluency, and pace. Their preparation reflected discipline, enthusiasm, and a growing comfort with our beloved community language.

From Grades 2, 3, and 4, three finalists from each grade were selected to represent their classes on stage. Each finalist confidently read a prepared passage in Lisan ud Dawat, showcasing clarity, rhythm, and expressive reading. Their courage and composure in front of an audience were truly commendable.

What made the event even more special was the open challenge round — inviting not only students but also teachers to come forward and test their language skills. A number of participants stepped up, creating a lively atmosphere filled with encouragement, laughter, and shared learning. It was a beautiful reminder that learning is not limited to classrooms — it is a journey we experience together.

Why Programs Like This Matter

Initiatives like the Fast Reading Competition offer numerous benefits:

  • Strengthening fluency and pronunciation
  • Building public speaking confidence
  • Improving focus and articulation
  • Encouraging healthy, motivating competition
  • Deepening connection with our linguistic heritage

Most importantly, Lisan ud Dawat is not just any language. It is a reflection of our culture, our history, and our identity. By nurturing proficiency and pride in this language, we are preserving a legacy and ensuring it continues to thrive in the next generation.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated teachers who took the initiative to guide, motivate, and prepare the students over the past month. Their commitment to helping students embrace and excel in our community language is truly invaluable.

The competition was not only about speed — it was about confidence, connection, and celebrating who we are. At RQA, we remain committed to nurturing both academic excellence and cultural identity, hand in hand.

Science Buddies – Ball Run Challenge

Our Grade 5 students stepped into the role of young engineers as they took on an exciting hands-on STEM challenge,  designing and building creative ball runs using only paper and tape.

With limited materials but unlimited imagination, students worked collaboratively to plan, construct, test, and redesign their models. Through this engaging activity, they explored key scientific concepts such as force, motion, gravity, energy transfer, and Newton’s Laws of Motion. Every adjustment they made required critical thinking, observation, and problem-solving — mirroring the real-world engineering design process.

The classroom was filled with experimentation and discovery. Some designs required rebuilding, others needed reinforcement, and many teams refined their structures multiple times before achieving smooth motion. This process taught students resilience, teamwork, and the value of learning through trial and improvement.

To conclude the unit, students created detailed science posters summarizing the concepts they applied in their designs. They then confidently presented their work to peers across the school, strengthening not only their conceptual understanding but also their public speaking and communication skills.

Beyond the mechanics of motion and energy, students also reflected on a deeper lesson, that the laws of science demonstrate the order, balance, and perfection in Allah’s creation. Understanding these principles allowed them to appreciate how the physical world operates with precision and harmony.

At RQA, science is not limited to textbooks.
It is built.
Tested.
Shared.
And experienced with curiosity, purpose, and joy.

Spelling Bee

Spelling Bee Success at RQA

Excitement filled the air as RQA proudly joined the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee this year. What began as friendly classroom competitions quickly grew into a campus-wide celebration of vocabulary, confidence, and academic excellence.

Students first competed in Classroom Bees, where top spellers earned the opportunity to advance to the School Spelling Bee. From Grades 1 through 8, 23 outstanding students qualified to compete in our school-wide event — each demonstrating focus, preparation, and remarkable poise.

Our school champions will now advance to the regional competition, representing RQA alongside other private and parochial schools across Texas. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and courage in taking on this challenge.

The Spelling Bee is more than just letters and words — it builds perseverance, sharpens language skills, and strengthens public speaking confidence. Watching our students rise to the occasion has been truly inspiring.

We wish our regional competitors the very best as they continue their spelling journey. Go RQA!

Grade 8 Participates in The New York Times A.I. Multimedia Challenge

The New York Times recently launched a student competition titled “Growing Up With A.I.: A Multimedia Challenge for Teenagers and Educators.” We are proud to share that our Grade 8 students enthusiastically participated in this prestigious national contest.

As part of their submission, students were asked to reflect on two powerful and thought-provoking questions:
•What’s it like to think, create, teach, and learn at a time when artificial intelligence is transforming our world?
•What will the rise of A.I. mean for the generation currently in high school?

This challenge encouraged students to think critically about the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in education, creativity, careers, and daily life. It required them to analyze not only the benefits of emerging technology, but also the responsibilities and ethical considerations that come with it.

Through this experience, our Grade 8 students demonstrated:
  • Advanced critical thinking
  • Strong analytical writing skills
  • Awareness of current global trends
  • Confidence in expressing informed opinions
  • Readiness to engage with real-world issues
Participating in a competition hosted by a globally recognized publication reflects the academic rigor and forward-thinking mindset we cultivate at RQA. It also highlights our commitment to preparing students not just for exams, but for meaningful engagement with the world around them.

We are incredibly proud of our Grade 8 students for stepping into a national platform and thoughtfully addressing one of the most relevant topics of our time.
